Electronic Equipment Trades Worker: Workers who install, maintain, and repair electronic systems and equipment are known as electronic equipment tradespeople. They operate with various electronic devices, including computers, electronic security systems, audio and video equipment, home entertainment systems, and electronic instruments and control systems. They also provide consumers with operating instructions and inspect, test, adjust, and replace malfunctioning components of electronic circuits and systems.

Occupation Descriptions

Trading in Electronic Equipment Computers, electronic security systems, home entertainment systems, audio and video reproduction equipment, and other electronic equipment are among the systems and equipment workers install, maintain, and repair. 

Their job involves:

  • To identify problems, inspect and test systems and equipment.
  • Maintaining machinery and systems and modifying, fixing, and swapping out old and faulty wiring and parts.
  • Reassemble, test, run, and modify machinery.
  • Teaching consumers the proper way to operate to avoid problems.

Stage 1

What skills and knowledge do I need?

The UEE30920 Certificate III in Electronics and Communications is the prerequisite for this position. You must prove proficient in the following competency units to receive this certification. Each competency unit defines a subset of the knowledge and abilities required in Australian businesses. 

You must achieve 21 units of competency:

  • 14 core units
  • 7 elective units
