Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR)
When a candidate passes the practical skills assessment for the UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, VETASSESS issues them with an OTSR, a type of technical skills documentation. The OTSR enumerates the technical abilities and knowledge proven about the qualification and any deficiencies that must be filled to reach the complete standard, such as the Australian wiring regulations for electrical trades.
The Australian electrical industry regulators have agreed to grant you a provisional (limited) license against your OTSR. This license is a significant opportunity, allowing you to work in Australia under supervision while you work towards fulfilling the prerequisites for a full (unrestricted) license. You can apply for this provisional license through state and territorial regulators, and you may also need to fulfill additional non-skill requirements. Remember that the specific license requirements may vary depending on the state or territory you wish to work in.
In order to obtain a UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a complete license, you must:
- A minimum Australian context gap training, and
- A period of supervised employment in your trade.
After completing the gap training satisfactorily and receiving a Statement of Attainment from the RTO, you have the following options:
- Apply for your Certificate III qualification from the RTO, where you finished your gap training. After that, you can apply for a complete license by presenting this qualification to the appropriate licensing authority.
- To obtain your Certificate III, apply for VETASSESS. After reviewing your gap training records, VETASSESS will provide you with the necessary Certificate III qualification. You can show this qualification to the appropriate licensing authority to obtain a complete license. Please be aware that VETASSESS will charge an administrative fee for providing the qualification in addition to possible extra requirements.
