    Employment information

All three of the following “essential” tasks must be proved for a function to be considered highly relevant.

Essential – All must be demonstrated:

    • Consulting on management issues that are impartial and independent.
    • Analyzing and researching the needs of clients; recognizing and evaluating an issue; examining a particular division inside an organization.
    • Recommendations based on the unique organizational and business issues our clients are facing.

Additional activities that may sometimes be encountered:

    • Helping to put the suggestions into practice.
    • Testing the suggested solution or solutions.
    • Acquiring new business.
    • Heading up consulting groups.
    • Communicating to encourage the use of follow-up services.

    Criteria for internal consulting roles

Most management consultants advise external clients while working as independent consultants or for consulting firms. In certain situations, the consultant’s clients may also be members of their organization. Still, in every case, their job is to help the organization (s) they advise solve organizational management problems and become more efficient by offering unbiased, independent advice.

An applicant’s workplace’s organizational structure should make offering unbiased, impartial counsel easier. Internal consultants typically work in an internal consulting unit, also referred to as a strategy team or department, to provide consulting services to other units within the same organization. It is unlikely that many internal consultants will be able to offer the impartial and unbiased counsel required in this field. An applicant must provide unambiguous, verifiable proof of their ability to offer impartial, independent advice and guidance to be considered for an internal position as a management consultant.

    Notes on other employment contexts

Usually, advice given during the setup or provision of business process outsourcing services would be regarded as something other than objective advice. There is a difference between continuously offering guidance on enhancing outsourced operations and providing objective consulting services connected to strategic management for organizational problems.

Positions that primarily concentrate on giving counsel on risk management or adhering to rules, laws, or quality standards without providing adequate consultation on organizational management matters are not considered highly important. Generally speaking, counsel restricted to methods for guaranteeing adherence to pre-existing frameworks or standards is not regarded as fulfilling the prerequisites for this profession. Consultants’ advice should involve establishing and attaining company and organizational changes that are not limited by preset criteria. Professional risk, governance, and compliance positions may be compared to the vocation of Information and Organization Professionals nec (ANZSCO Code 224999).

Organizational structures, methods, systems, and procedures are studied in the field of Organization and Methods Analysis (ANZSCO Code 224712) to, for example, improve ongoing processes.

Giving professional assistance to individuals in a specific sector is known as consulting. ICT, agriculture, hiring, taxation, scientific research, environmental management, and many other fields employ consultants. Advisors in management offer guidance on matters about management.

To meet an organization’s long-term goals and objectives, management consultants typically work as independent consultants or are employed by management consulting firms. They offer professional expertise and advice to organizations on strategy, structure, management, and operations in exchange for a consulting fee. During the consulting process, a problem or a particular area of an organization is identified, assessed, and analyzed. The findings are then reported, and recommendations for change are developed and frequently implemented.

A crucial step in the assessment process is figuring out the context, methodology, scope, and goal of the consulting engagements provided. The extent and depth of advice offered and the effect of the issues addressed on the client organizations will all be considered when evaluating whether a function entails enough consulting on management-related themes. The management issues and organizational issues that are recommended generally have to do with the continuous planning, observation, analysis, and evaluation of how organizations might accomplish strategically defined goals and objectives.

Although suggestions for possible enhancements to current operational procedures may be given, management consultants are expected to show that they can offer strategic recommendations in their capacities.

Jobs that don’t have a clear basis in consulting, like many executive positions or those that solely concentrate on helping to improve internal procedures over time, are seen as insignificant.

    Supporting material for assessment

When applying for a skills assessment, please provide enough documentation to back up your employment claims, qualifications, and identity proof. The VETASSESS website lists all the necessary paperwork in the Eligibility Criteria section.

Employers’ reference letters should contain particular, in-depth documentation of the tasks you completed. This is especially crucial if you work in a consulting team, as it will be necessary to provide proof of your work rather than the team’s accomplishments.

Referees should be fully informed about the specifics of the job they have completed and present instances of assignments, including analysis and particular suggestions that have been generated and submitted for review. Regarding your role, they ought to offer unbiased, independent information.

If you are nominating this occupation, you must submit an organizational chart. This chart should include:

    • The company letterhead
    • Your job position
    • The job positions of your superiors and subordinates, as well as all positions reporting to your immediate supervisor and direct subordinates.

The department’s position within the larger organizational structure should also be shown on the chart.

Suppose your employer is unable to give you an organizational chart. In that case, you must submit a statutory declaration explaining the needed information and why you cannot offer it.

You also need to turn in a completed project list for this occupation. A template for this can be found on the VETASSESS website.

Applicants are also further encouraged to provide the following, if possible:

    • Official job descriptions for every position held
    • Links to comprehensive websites for each of their employers include:
    • If links are available, the department/unit they worked at that was relevant.
    • Pertinent services are offered.
    • Website links for key external clients, if relevant.
    • Anything more they found online during that time that would be relevant to their work.
    • customer reference letters
    • Contract samples, if applicable to the role-played
    • documents produced, like consultancy reports, throughout the consultation process.
    • Any more papers they feel are pertinent to their position.

Before sending these documents, applicants may remove any susceptible information.
